0 20 hours ago Full Job Description Connecticut College is conducting a national search for a Director of Environmental Health and Safety.
The director will develop, implement and coordinate comprehensive environmental health and safety programs at Connecticut College.
Develop organization-wide programs to preserve the environment and protect the health of employees and the public.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and standards involving radiation safety, environmental health, chemical control and industrial hygiene.
This position will remain open until filled.
Compensation includes and excellent benefits package.
General Duties &
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement and maintains comprehensive programs in the areas of radiation safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous waste disposal and environmental health Develop and implement preventative programs to identify and reduce risks from potential hazards in the workplace to include inspections and surveys Establish and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate programs effectiveness; effect change needed for improvement Ensure compliance with all environmental health and safety standards promulgated by all local, state, and federal agencies through development and implementation of on-campus inspection and monitoring programs Keep current of pending regulatory developments through reference sources; obtain insight on legislative agendas at state and federal level Participate in function related campus committees and planning session in order to develop consensus based policies and procedures Act as campus OSHA compliance officer Conduct incident/accident investigations Chair Employee Safety Committee Required to be available outside of the College's normal administrative office hours
Qualifications:
Requires Bachelors degree in Environment/Occupational Health and Safety with 4 - 5 years experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified Excellent oral and written communications skills Knowledge of federal, state and local laws including DEP, EPA, OSHA, CONN-OSHA, NRC and others Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to build and sustain key relationships with all levels of the College Community and governmental regulating agencies Proficient in Microsoft office Excellent organization skills and ability to set priorities and keep to deadlines High integrity needed to handle confidential information Little travel required Required Documents:

Connecticut College requires employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
