You will serve as the technical and administrative supervisor and command's subject matter expert for grounds and athletic fields, exercising full supervisory responsibility over work operations. Possess basic knowledge of maintenance and repair of passenger vehicles, heavy equipment, grounds equipment, emergency generators, small gasoline engines, diesel engines, and other like equipment. Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable team member. Typical duties include:
- Performing the administrative and human resources management functions relative to the staff supervised.- Establishing guidelines and performance expectations for the staff, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system.- Assuring employees are trained and complying with safety guidelines.- Applying technical knowledge and understanding of growth characteristics and different varieties of shrubs and trees, common diseases and infestation by pest of trees, shrubs and lawns.- Overseeing snow removal operations and operating snow removal equipment during winter months.- Maintaining and cultivating flower beds and shrubs.- Planning, coordinating, and assisting in setup and breakdowns of special events and athletic events.- Performing Contracting Officer's Representative and inspection services for Public Works service and/or small construction contracts that fall within the area of responsibility.
