If selected you will serve as the principal office assistant providing office management and clerical support to the Commanding Officer and Executive Director of the USCG Research and Development Center. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Coordinating ongoing clerical and administrative support for the Command. Producing typed materials for staff, including forms, memoranda, correspondence and similar narrative material, from draft type materials, disk files, electronic network, and/or handwritten copy. This includes official correspondence in accordnce with the Coast Guard Correspondence Manual and the formatting/review of R&D Center proposals. Maintaining Commanding Officer/Executive Director's calendar, recording all appointments, meetings and other commitments, including coordinating/managing VIP visits/agendas. Controls Commanding Officer and Executive Director schedules with complete authority for commitments on appointment calendars based on knowledge of time available, workload and issues of importance. Screens meeting requests, calls and visitors as required. Ensures read-ahead material for both internal and external meetings are complete and timely. Coordinate Command-level internal communications including developing and publishing the R&D Center's Plan of the Week (POW) and scheduling and organizing monthly all-hands meetings. Manage the distribution of incoming mail for the Commanding Officer/Executive Director, screening items that can be handled by other R&D Center staff and scan noteworthy correspondence into documentation management system. Serves as the Alternate Classified Information Management (CIM) program Librarian as needed. Specialized Experience Statement :
To qualify for this position, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service performing the following types of tasks on a regular and recurring basis:
Performing advance office automation work; Maintaining supervisors calendar; distributing mail; organizes data into graph; spreadsheets, or other mediums of representation; maintains and organize office files and other materials; Edit material for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and clarity of expression; Reviews final form materials, submitted for supervisor's signature, from lower organizational units for overall clerical accuracy and conformance to establish format Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. In addition to meeting experience requirements, applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
