Maintenance Mechanic Worker, WG-4749-08

You would perform preventive maintenance work during rotating shifts. Responding to fire alarms, security alarms, and emergencies, such as electrical failures, water leaks, floods, equipment failure, etc. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
- Cleaning such components as heat exchangers, lube oil coolers, evaporators, boiler tubes, etc. - Cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining the tools and equipment of the various trades. - Using a wide variety of equipment and tools such as power hacksaws, power band saws, grinding and drilling machines, etc. - Troubleshooting and installing some air conditioning systems; repair and maintenance of domestic heating equipment systems is also performed under supervision. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
